As NYU continues to position itself as a first-class Global Network University, a growing need has arisen for a dynamic platform for collaboration and innovation in how the University community uses technology in support of its strategic goals. In spring 2012, with support from of IT @ NYU, and the CIO Council members, a representative body of school-based IT leadership, this need was answered by forming TorchTech, a diverse committee of IT leaders from individual schools and colleges, ITS, Global Technology Services, and departmental based IT contributors with the objective of leveraging its shared resources and leadership in order to improve user experience, establish best practices, and ensure alignment with University initiatives.
Currently in its formative stages, TorchTech is seeking input from throughout the NYU IT community to craft effective responses to the individual and overall needs of its users. Several projects have already been identified as areas for potential collaboration, including creating opportunities for networking and professional development for new IT professionals.
Whatever your role, TorchTech invites you to get involved; to lend your voice to this ongoing discussion of how the University can best harness the knowledge and skills of our IT community. You are encouraged to contribute your own ideas or concerns through this organization.
